Innovation and entrepreneurship are at the peak in India. In order to make development a comprehensive mass movement and innovate on all fronts, MHRD, AICTE, i4c and Persistent Systems have come together to organise Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2019 - a unique Open Innovation Model for identifying new and disruptive technology innovations to solve the challenges faced in our country. It's a non-stop product development competition, where problem statements are posed to technology students for innovative solutions. It can help to:

  • Harness creativity & expertise of students
  • Spark institute-level hackathons
  • Build funnel for 'Startup India' campaign
  • Crowdsource solutions for improving governance and quality of life
  • Provide opportunity to citizens to provide innovative solutions to India's daunting problems

The first two editions SIH2017 and SIH2018 proved to be extremely successful in promoting innovation, out-of-the-box thinking in young minds, especially engineering students from across India.

What is Smart india hackathon?

It is a national level technical event conducted by the govt of India.

This event is a another push to digital India initiative.

Grand finale of this event is going to be held at 26 locations on April 1&2.

Initally 7500 teams approximately 42,000 students were participated.

Now the teams were shortlisted to 10,000 students.

The main motto of the event is to finding out the solutions for the 598 social problems which is identified by the 29 ministries and govt departments.

The solutions may be in software or mobile apps.

Particiants have to be sit locked in for 36 hrs to develop the solution.

The end product of the students will be evaluated by the respective ministries and industry experts.

Top 3 will be awarded by cash prizes like 1lakh,50k,25k.

Then the awarded software will be used by the relevant department to improve their governance systems.
